ELHÂN ENSEMBLE

The aim of the Elhân Ensemble is to present fine examples of music written in makams which are nearly unused in Turkish music today, and allow us to bring old compositions back into the repertoire. Inasmuch as listening to music is a habit, they believe that the performer plays an important role in creating a musical repertoire in the mind of the listener. For this reason, they are convinced that these rare examples from the rich body of Turkish music will arouse as much interest as frequently performed works. The Elhân Ensemble looks at Turkish music as a whole, and includes classic, folkloric and religious-mystical forms together in its projects.
